No one looks on mobile devices as a game system until someone ports a Quake to it.
So there is a Quake for Android platfrom, and latest example is Quake III ported to Apple’s iPod touch. Canadian developer HermitWorks is responsible for modification of this id Software game.
iPod touch has strong CPU - underclocked 620 to 412 MHz ARM (Apple branded processor, probably a Samsung ARM) and 128 MB RAM, so this device has a the potential to be a good portable game system.

iPhone games

At this moment, the most popular are two game systms - Sony PSP and Nintendo DS, but Apple’s iPhone is going to fight with this duet. Let see what this devices have inside.

Nintendo DS - 67MHz ARM and 33MHz ARM processors, 4 MB RAM, dual 3″ display.
Sony PSP - 333MHz MIPS processor, 166 MHZ GPU (35Million Poly/sec), 32 MB RAM, 4.3″ display.
Apple iPhone - 620 MHz ARM Processor, 412 MHz Power VR GPU, 128 MB RAM, 3.5″ display.

So… iPhone looks the most powerful, but Sony and Nintendo have plenty of games, moreover Nintendo sold more then 50 million units, and Sony sold more then 20 mmillion units.
Apple sold only 4 million units, it is a poor result for mass market game system, so it is senseless to develop costly games for this device.
