On May 09, 2008 Google released results of Android Development Challenge.
Among the top 50 projects, that will be awarded $25,000 USD, there are many social networking, commerce related and navigation applications.
Moreover, judges granded mixed apps, like navigation-social networing etc..
So, among winers there are such projects like Commandro a geo-centered social networking or Pocket Journey a global community of professionalists.
Tools and utilities for Android phones are presented by Locale, a dynamic settings manage or Android Scan, software for finding prices and metadata for products with a barcode.
In category fun and games, judges appreciate SplashPlay, mobile music maker.

Not HTC Dream byt Diamond was presented, so rumors was true - we have to wait for first Anndroid platforma mobile.
HTC Diamond, Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional powered phone, is going to rival with iPhone.
Supported 3G technoligies like HSDPA 7.2 Mbit/s, HSUPA make a HTC Diamond better featured phone then iPhone.
A data storage is an area where Aple’s iPhone is better - 8G bytes or 16G bytes compared to 4G bytes of flash memory.
HTC equipped this mobile with 2.8-inch 640×480, pixel, VGA touch screen which is one of the improvements to earlier devices.
Other parameters are like rumors said. Diamond will be available in the second half of 2008.
Not Dream but Diamond?

HTC planned press event for 6 May, when this Taiwan-based company is expected to introduce an Android based mobile.
But there are rumors that HTC are not planning Android device debut, but will launch Touch Diamond, successor of Touch Cruise smartphone.
Moreover, GPSAndCo portal claims to have a knowledge about specification of this phone.
So, HTC Diamond is believed to be powered by Qualcomm MSM 7201A @ 528MHz and 256MB ROM/192MB RAM. It is interesting because HTC Dream is expected to be powered by similar Qualcomm MSM 7200 chip.
2.8-inch, 240×320 pixels VGA screen is a standard commponent for HTC smartphones, so both mobiles, Dream and Diamond, will be equipped with.
Such technologies like HSDPA/HSUPA, eGPS, 3.2MP (or more) camera, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 2.0, orientation sensor and FM Radio are believed to be standardly installed in high performance devices like Dream or Diamond.
The big unknown is internal flash memory. HTC Diamond is reported, by GPSAndCo portal, to has got Samsung MoviNAND 4GB internal flash storage.
How many flash memory will be in Dream? Probably more, because iPhone and Nseries Nokia’s are equipped with 8 or 16 GB.

Qualcomm, wireless telecommunications company, member of the Open Handset Alliance is going to be the biggest chips supplier for Android-powered devices.
They are going to push out more than five Android mobiles that should offer features like iPhone, but this devices will be cheaper.
T-Mobile USA, will introduce an Android powered smartphone during the fourth quarter of 2008 - this is not first time a T-Mobile announced plans about Android based smartphone.
HTC Dream?

On the Web has appeared a spy photo with 3 unknown HTC smartphone, there are TyTN II, Touch, Touch Cruise and HTC P3470, and 3 unknown devices.
Probably, one of this smartphones is HTC Dream, which was announced as a mobile with “qwerty” keyboard - a some kind of benchmark on this photo.
So.. if it is a new HTC Dream, it will be equipped with 2,8 inch screen, 320 x 240 pixels - like other HTC devices, something like iPod’s Click Wheel and video sensor for video calls.
On May 6, HTC announced an event, where company is expected to show first Android Platform powered mobile.
Android Developer Challenge

Android Developer Challenge have been ended on April 14, 2008. Developers have submitted 1,788 entries. All projects will be evaluated by cellular telecommunications, mobile devices and software development experts, selected from the Open Handset Alliance member. The results of evaluation are expected on July 21.
So take a look on list of some projects:

Nokia N810, mobile based on TI OMAP2 chip and Nokia’s Linux OS had been hacked to run Android, however, this project is stil in progress, there are problems with cellular radios, and it needs more work and time to fully adaptation of N810 under Google’s OS. This implementation will open possibility of installing Android on whole Nokia’s, TI OMAP besed, N-series mobiles.
Opera announced of Opera Mini, a new version of mobile web browser for the Android mobile OS.

First Android platform powered phone - HTC Dream, is expected to be released in special event in London on May 6, reports phonemag.com
High Tech Computer Corporation was expected to launch this mobile by mid-2008, but it looks that they going to present this device much faster.
There aren’t any official specific about the HTC Dream.

Another mobile producers is going to develop mobiles powered by Android Platform.
LG CEO, Jung Il-jae announced that they are going to use an open platform for LG’s 3G service, and they are interested in Android Platform. So LG may be another company which is racing to develop first Android mobile phone.
Next interesting fact is that AT&T is interested in Google’s Android platform phones being on their network.
So… Android become more popular.
HTC Dream - first Android phone?

High Tech Computer Corporation, Taiwan based mobile device producer, is going to launch first Android mobile.
Details about this phone are top secret, but the rumors are that first Android-powered mobile phone from HTC will be called Dream.
This phone will be looks like Omni (picture).
HTC Dream is a handset that is 3-inches wide, 5-inches long, the keypad is underneath the screen.
HTC Dream, Android Pocket PC phone, will hit the market in the end of 2008.
