Nokia N810, mobile based on TI OMAP2 chip and Nokia’s Linux OS had been hacked to run Android, however, this project is stil in progress, there are problems with cellular radios, and it needs more work and time to fully adaptation of N810 under Google’s OS. This implementation will open possibility of installing Android on whole Nokia’s, TI OMAP besed, N-series mobiles.

Quake 3 for iPod Touch

No one looks on mobile devices as a game system until someone ports a Quake to it.
So there is a Quake for Android platfrom, and latest example is Quake III ported to Apple’s iPod touch. Canadian developer HermitWorks is responsible for modification of this id Software game.
iPod touch has strong CPU - underclocked 620 to 412 MHz ARM (Apple branded processor, probably a Samsung ARM) and 128 MB RAM, so this device has a the potential to be a good portable game system.
HTC Dream

First Android platform powered phone - HTC Dream, is expected to be released in special event in London on May 6, reports phonemag.com
High Tech Computer Corporation was expected to launch this mobile by mid-2008, but it looks that they going to present this device much faster.
There aren’t any official specific about the HTC Dream.

Performance of Sony’s flag products.
Sony PlayStation (1995) is powered by 33.8688 MHz 32bit RISC chip, 2 MB of main RAM and 1 MB of Video RAM. This system is able to generate 1.5 million polygons per second.
Sony PlayStation 2 (2000) is powered by 294 MHz 128bit CPU, 147 MHz GPU, 32 MB RDRAM and 4 MB video memory. PlayStation 2 is able to generate 66 million polygons per second.
Sony PSP (2005) is powered by 333MHz MIPS R4000 (32-bit) CPU and 166MHz GPU with 2MB VRAM. This system allows to peak 35 million polygon per second.
Sony PlayStation 3 (2006) is powered by 3.2 GHz Cell Broadband, 550 MHz NVIDIA-SCEI “RSX” GPU, 256 MB main memory and 256 MB video memory. PlayStation 3 generates 275 million polygons per second.

MediaFLO is a new technology, designed for broadcast data to portabe devices like cell phones or PDAs. The “F-L-O” in MediaFLO stands for Forward Link Only. MediaFLO data stream is 200-250 kbps.
MediaFLO was developed by Qualcomm, San Diego, California based, research and development company which is active on the field of a wireless telecommunications.
Data broadcasted by MediaFLO technology include multiple real-time video and audio streams, IP Datacast application and individual, non-realtime video and audio sequences.
In MediaFLO technology all data are transmitted from the tower to the device, data path is one-way.
First devices supported MediaFLO was introduced by Samsung and LG. MediaFLO is a competitor to the European DVB-H standard and the Korean T-DMB standard.

Another mobile producers is going to develop mobiles powered by Android Platform.
LG CEO, Jung Il-jae announced that they are going to use an open platform for LG’s 3G service, and they are interested in Android Platform. So LG may be another company which is racing to develop first Android mobile phone.
Next interesting fact is that AT&T is interested in Google’s Android platform phones being on their network.
So… Android become more popular.

HTC Dream - first Android phone?

High Tech Computer Corporation, Taiwan based mobile device producer, is going to launch first Android mobile.
Details about this phone are top secret, but the rumors are that first Android-powered mobile phone from HTC will be called Dream.
This phone will be looks like Omni (picture).
HTC Dream is a handset that is 3-inches wide, 5-inches long, the keypad is underneath the screen.
HTC Dream, Android Pocket PC phone, will hit the market in the end of 2008.
